Dom Aidan Doyle OSB

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Dom Aidan Doyle OSB (aged 64), a monk of Belmont Abbey, after a long battle with cancer. Dom Aiden used to offer the Old Rite in Abertillery / Brynmawr before his appointment in Leominster and was Deacon / Subdeacon at so many of our High Masses through the last 15+ years. Details of his funeral have yet to be announced but it is hoped that a Traditional Rite Requiem will be organised in the coming weeks.

Ascension Day

Viri Galiaei, quid admiramini aspicientes in caelum? alleluia: quemadmodum vidístis eum ascendentem in caelum, ita veniet, alleluia.

Thursday 30th May 2019 is Ascension Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Details of MAsses around the country may be found HERE.

The LMS goes green

Did you notice the wrapper your latest edition of Mass of Ages arrived in? Until now, copies of the magazine have been delivered to members in clear plastic bags. The latest issue was sent in a new, environmentally friendly wrapper called ‘Polycomp’.

Fr Michael Rowe

Fr Michael Rowe of Perth, Western Australia, celebrates the Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination on Tuesday, 21st May 2019. Anyone in that part of the world is very welcome to attend a Solemn Mass in the presence of Most Rev Archbishop Emeritus Barry James Hickey at St Brigid's Church, Northbridge at 7pm.

Summer 2019 edition of Mass of Ages

Members should be receiving their copy of the summer edition of Mass of Ages this week. From the very early days of the Latin Mass Society, members received regular bulletins keeping them up to date with news and developments of its work to preserve the Traditional Latin Mass. These bulletins have gone through many formats over the years and in this edition of Mass of Ages we look back at them.

Burses, chalice veils, maniples and stoles

No, this is not some ancient chant, but is a list of items that have just been added to our online shop.

One of the things which has emerged from a thorough investigation of the Latin Mass Society’s vestment presses is a considerable number of non-matching items. In addition to a number of chasubles which lack most or all of their supporting items, we have a small mountain of burses, chalice veils, maniples, and stoles with no chasuble, or anything else, to go with them.

Sacred Triduum 2019

Our celebration of the Sacred Triduum in St Mary Moorfields, London saw a packed church on each of the three days. Photographs, taken by Joseph Shaw, may be seen HERE.

We are extremely grateful to Fr Christopher Vipers, Parish Priest, for allowing us to use the church. We take this opportunity to thank the following people, without whose assistance, the Trdiuum would not have taken place:
